The thick undergrowth at Bandipur was able to completely camouflage a herd of six elephants in a matter of thirty seconds right in front of my eyes. Subsequently, we spotted a lone elephant which withdrew into the undergrowth. I had to apply the heat map filter in Picasa to enhance the form of the elephant.
